How my family has grown. I have two wonderful daughters and, between the two of them, I have 7 wonderful and, unique grandchildren. It is amazing how being a grand parent is so much more "fun" than being a parent.
As a parent it is your responsibility to teach your child all the virtues you want them to display when growing up. These virtues include, respect, the difference between right and wrong, obediance, responsibility, dependibility and, so many other virtues they will need to learn to become the adult you can be proud of.
As a grandparent, all these virtues are in place therefore, all you need to do is have fun with your kids. Of course at times you need to remind them of some of the virtues that they have learned but, all in all, you just get to enjoy them and, watch them grow, changing each year as they get use to the skin they are in. I think as a parent, you are so busy teaching them you don't take the pleasure of just watching them grow up. Maybe, it is because you are with them on a daily basis too.
Being a grandparent is so different. I get to teach my grandchildren the fun things that I have learned over the years. When my grandchildren come to visit, I like to do crafts with them. We make pillows, work with polymer clay and, even do other sewing. I really enjoy watching them develope their creativity from year to year. We also have lots of times for family games, which we really create a lot of memories while we play. Oh yes, I understand the saying, "If I would have known grandchildren were this much fun, I would have had them first." Now, we know we can't do this but, I do understand this saying so much better since I have been a grand parent.
My grandchildren are also very enthused about my stores on line. They each like to look at the catalogs. A few of the boys are really into fantasy books therefore, they love the dragon statues and, all the medievel stuff they can find in my catalog. My oldest granddaughter like the fairy statues and decor that I offer. She thinks they are just beautiful. One of my grandsons is into pirates, treasure chest and, ship decorations. He loves looking through the catalog too. It is a joy for me when they look through my catalog from my on line store, Cheryl's Gifts 2 Go as I always end up with ideas on what to get them for Christmas.
Oh yes, being a grandparent is a joy which I think everyone should experience.
